Google Rebrands NotebookLM as Gemini Notebook

First unveiled at Google I/O in 2023 under the moniker Project Tailwind, the research assistant has grown to support 30 million individual users and over 600,000 organizations. Over the past three years, Google expanded the platform with features ranging from automated podcast generation to video overviews and enterprise-grade support. By shifting the branding to Gemini Notebook, the company signals a strategic move to unify its experimental AI products under a single identity.

The latest update introduces isolated, secure containers for each notebook, enabling users to generate and execute code directly within the interface. This functionality allows for complex data analysis across multiple source files without leaving the workspace. The feature is currently available to Google AI Ultra subscribers and select Workspace business customers, with a wider rollout for Pro users scheduled for the coming weeks. Users can already view their notebooks within the Gemini app, with plans to integrate them into AI Mode in Google Search shortly.
