Adobe’s Project Indigo introduces AI-driven photography critiques

The app’s new "AI playground" tab offers two primary feedback mechanisms. A photo critique feature delivers a professional assessment of a shot’s framing and emotional resonance, while a capture-and-edit tool provides real-time suggestions for adjustments like exposure or object removal before a photo is even finalized. Unlike traditional generative tools that require precise text prompts, these features use clearly defined buttons to produce predictable, actionable results.

Beyond critiques, the update enhances utility through advanced object removal. Users can now toggle specific categories for deletion—such as wires, trash, or background pedestrians—or describe custom objects to erase. While the app also includes style transfer options, such as watercolor or monochromatic filters, the core focus remains on educational guidance. Adobe currently powers these experimental tools using Google’s Gemini Nano, though the company reserves the right to integrate its proprietary Firefly models as testing continues among a select group of users.
