The updated migration pathway enables the wireless transfer of a wider range of data, including Google accounts, saved passwords, Wi-Fi credentials, and eSIM configurations. Beyond these essential digital keys, the system handles the standard migration of photos, videos, contacts, and calendar entries without requiring third-party tools or secondary applications.
This functionality is currently rolling out to select Pixel handsets and the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 and Z Fold8 devices. Google intends to expand this native transfer capability to a broader array of Android hardware in the coming months, aiming to capture a larger share of the smartphone market by lowering the technical barriers for users considering a change in platform.
