Imagi Secures $4.5 Million to Bring AI Literacy to K-12 Classrooms

Founded in 2018 by Dora Palfi and Beatrice Ionascu, the company addresses the growing tension between AI accessibility and classroom safety. A core component of this strategy is a partnership with the vibe coding tool Lovable, supported by $1 million in OpenAI credits. This collaboration allows teachers to deploy AI lessons within strict guardrails, ensuring that all prompts and responses are screened for safety before reaching students. Palfi emphasizes that the platform adheres to global privacy standards, including COPPA, FERPA, and GDPR, explicitly forbidding the use of student data for model training.

The practical applications of these tools are already visible in classrooms worldwide. Students have leveraged the platform to build everything from multilingual curriculum translation apps to digital storefronts for local businesses. Having already reached 700,000 students across 140 countries, Imagi plans to use the new funding to expand its district-level sales, accelerate hiring, and support the launch of an additional platform scheduled for next month. Palfi argues that as AI reshapes the future job market, schools serve as the essential environment to move children from passive users to active creators.
