LinkedIn Launches Reporting Tool to Combat AI-Generated Content

The platform, which serves over one billion members, is increasingly pressured to differentiate between genuine professional insights and machine-authored filler. While many users turn to AI to refine their communication, industry observers warn that the practice often results in bland or inauthentic contributions that erode user trust. The new reporting feature serves as a frontline defense against the surge of automated material that threatens the site's core value as a trusted career resource.

Brendan Gahan, CEO of Creator Authority, notes that while AI use is widespread, relying on it for content creation risks damaging an influencer's credibility. The scale of the challenge is significant: data from Pangram Labs suggests that 41% of long-form posts and 30% of comments on LinkedIn were AI-generated between April and June. Originality.ai reported even higher figures, claiming 81% of reviewed posts showed substantial AI involvement. LinkedIn has disputed these findings, though the company has yet to release its own internal metrics to clarify the scope of the problem.
