Stability AI Secures $76 Million from Entertainment Giants

CEO Prem Akkaraju, who took the helm in 2024, frames the investment as a validation of the company's mission to integrate generative tools into professional creative workflows. The capital is earmarked for scaling the firm’s suite of music, video, and image generation models, alongside the expansion of its professional services division.

The roster of backers—which also includes Sony Music Group, Warner Music Group, and AMD Ventures—highlights a pivot toward deep industry integration. Stability has spent the past year formalizing co-development deals with these entities, moving beyond simple licensing agreements to embed AI directly into the production pipelines of major media houses.

Despite the fresh cash, the company remains ensnared in legal friction. While a UK court recently ruled in Stability’s favor regarding a copyright lawsuit from Getty Images, a parallel case in the United States remains unresolved. Internally, the firm continues to navigate the fallout from a 2023 lawsuit filed by co-founder Cyrus Hodes, who alleges he was misled by former CEO Emad Mostaque during a share sale.
