Pabst Blue Ribbon Turns to Social Media After Massive Cargo Heist

Thieves executed the theft on August 17 by utilizing fraudulent paperwork to pose as a legitimate subcontracting firm. While the company initially demanded the return of a stolen vehicle, the Montclair Police Department confirmed that only the 40,000 pounds of cargo, valued at roughly $25,000, were taken. Pabst later corrected its social media messaging to reflect that they did not own the transport truck.

Authorities are currently investigating a potential link between this incident and a separate, $45,000 shipment bound for Tucson, Arizona, that vanished from the same facility on the same day. These thefts reflect a broader national trend of rising cargo crime, which saw losses reach $725 million last year—a 60% increase from 2024. With California currently holding the highest cargo theft risk in the country, the company continues to mock the perpetrators online, noting that the trail is growing cold.
