Andreessen Horowitz inflates growth fund to $8.5 billion

The capital increase follows the fund’s initial $6.75 billion launch in January. General partner David George, who oversees the growth investment team, noted that the firm has backed over 100 companies during the vehicle’s seven-year history. These resources are earmarked for startups scaling products and expanding into new markets, with a specific focus on enterprise AI, defense technology, robotics, and health infrastructure.

Market conditions have shifted, allowing companies to reach growth stages faster while commanding significantly higher valuations. Alongside its hardware and software bets, the firm continues its heavy investment in political lobbying throughout the current election year. These latest moves build upon a broader $15 billion fundraising effort announced earlier this year, further cementing the firm’s position as it manages approximately $90 billion in assets.
