Microsoft 365 services remain unstable after days of outages

The disruption began when a misconfiguration in the platform's authentication infrastructure prevented components from deploying across the company's network. This failure rippled outward, impacting not only email delivery in Outlook but also critical productivity tools including Copilot, Defender XDR, and the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

Engineers spent Monday night testing and rolling out patches to stabilize the environment. By Tuesday morning, Microsoft confirmed that search functionality—which had remained degraded long after mail flow began to recover—was finally showing signs of improvement. Despite these incremental gains, the company has stopped short of declaring the incident closed. Instead, technical teams have shifted into a period of extended monitoring to ensure that the fix holds and that the underlying authentication issues do not resurface for global users.
