Tung argued that current privacy protections are insufficient against devices capable of constant recording, emphasizing the need to prevent these tools from becoming instruments of public monitoring.

To address these risks, the Norwegian administration intends to form an expert panel tasked with drafting recommendations for stricter oversight. The proposed measures could culminate in a total prohibition of facial recognition software within public areas, effectively stripping the devices of their most controversial capabilities.
