Google and Accenture form AI engineering unit to bridge deployment gap

The newly formed Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group will deploy forward-deployed engineers (FDEs) directly into client companies. Google plans to train 1,000 of these consultants to build custom applications on its Gemini platform. Financial pressure is mounting for Google Cloud, which faces the challenge of justifying its massive capital expenditures. Alphabet reported $811 billion in purchase commitments and contractual obligations as of June 30, yet enterprise demand remains inconsistent. Current data from Ramp reveals Google holds only 6% of U.S. enterprise AI spending, while OpenAI and Anthropic command 39.7% and 43.5% respectively. By scaling this consultancy-led approach, Google hopes to overcome the deployment bottlenecks that have limited its traction in the corporate sector compared to its competitors.
