Flock Safety initiates voluntary buyouts amid surveillance backlash

This pattern of abuse has triggered a sharp response from local governments; Florida and Texas have moved to suspend their contracts, and an advocacy group noted that 90 cities abandoned the technology in August alone—a fourfold increase over July.

CEO Garrett Langley recently acknowledged the toll on staff, telling the All-In podcast that the primary damage from the ongoing backlash is the erosion of internal morale. By incentivizing voluntary departures, leadership hopes to stabilize the company's culture and shed staff who are disillusioned by the firm's current trajectory. While the company characterizes the packages as its most generous to date, the move signals a defensive pivot for a startup struggling to maintain its footprint in the public sector.
