Meta Expands Muse AI Agent with Avatars and Mac Desktop Integration

The core of Meta’s strategy involves giving the previously faceless Muse a tangible presence through digital avatars. Powered by the new Muse Realtime Avatar model, these personas allow users to conduct real-time video conversations, providing a more personable interface for task delegation. Beyond the screen, the agent is migrating to Meta’s smart glasses, where it will respond to wake words to assist with real-world activities such as workout tracking, meal logging, and product purchases.

Meta is also positioning Muse as a productivity engine for professionals. Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang confirmed the agent will soon operate Mac applications, allowing it to manage business workflows autonomously. To support this background processing, Muse is being granted its own dedicated email address, enabling it to participate directly in threads or handle communications on a user’s behalf.

Commercial adoption remains a priority, with Meta securing partnerships across the retail and financial sectors. Muse can now interface with Shopify catalogs and Shop Pay, alongside integrations for major retailers including Walmart, Best Buy, and Sephora. By opening the platform to third-party developers, Meta has already seen over 1,500 applications for custom "connectors," signaling a push to make Muse the primary interface for digital commerce and small business management.
