The Surgeon Who Redesigned the Doctor’s Office

Shah’s path to longevity entrepreneurship was born from personal collapse. Despite his pedigree as a Mayo Clinic-trained surgeon, he found himself 50 pounds overweight, hypertensive, and reliant on ten different medications. While managing his own autoimmune diagnosis, he realized he was trapped in a system built for disease management rather than proactive health. This frustration led him to functional medicine, a pivot that eventually saw his surgical patients canceling procedures because their underlying health had improved so drastically they no longer required the knife.

Today, Next Health operates over 25 locations, blending high-end diagnostics with wellness services like hormone optimization and IV therapy. While skeptics question the viability of physical clinics in a digital-first era, Shah insists that the brick-and-mortar experience is the product itself. By curating a space that feels more like a high-end boutique than a waiting room, he aims to replace the common patient anxieties of fear and annoyance with a sense of inspiration.

Addressing the elephant in the room—the high cost of longevity medicine—Shah argues that the model is designed for accessibility. While his "Executive Physical" commands a $14,500 price tag, he points to $99 monthly memberships as evidence of a broader strategy. As the franchise scales, the goal remains to push those costs lower, betting that the future of medicine isn't just about what happens in the lab, but how a patient feels the moment they walk through the door.
