Testing the Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 as a year-round climate solution

The HF1 integrates heating and cooling into a 23-inch frame weighing less than six pounds. Beyond its compact footprint, the device relies on the MyDyson app for remote scheduling, oscillation control, and timer settings. During three months of testing, the appliance proved particularly effective for bedrooms and home offices, operating at a subtle 26 decibels in its dedicated Sleep mode.

Functionality relies on an intelligent thermostat that monitors ambient conditions to maintain a set temperature during heating cycles. Users should note that the cooling mode functions as a high-velocity fan rather than an air conditioner, meaning it moves air without lowering the room’s actual temperature. The bladeless architecture simplifies maintenance, requiring only a quick wipe to clear dust, and improves safety for households with children or pets. While the metal casing can grow warm during heating, an integrated tilt-switch ensures the unit shuts down if tipped over.
