The capital injection places Musk alongside prominent investors like board member Laurene Powell Jobs. Co-CEOs David Ellison and Ynon Kreiz are currently steering the integration of major properties including CBS, CNN, HBO Max, and Paramount+. The company faces the immediate challenge of streamlining operations, having already pledged to slash costs by $6 billion over the next three years to bolster its market valuation.
Musk’s involvement reinforces his long-standing alliance with the Ellison family. He appointed Oracle founder Larry Ellison to the Tesla board in 2018, and the elder Ellison returned the favor by providing $1 billion to support Musk’s 2022 acquisition of Twitter. While Skydance has yet to comment on the funding, the move provides the necessary liquidity to navigate the company's aggressive restructuring phase.
