James Martin

James Martinis a British chef and television presenter, best known for his television work with the cookery series Saturday Kitchen from 2006 until 2016, before leaving the BBC.

More recently, Martin has presented James Martin's French Adventure (2017), James Martin's Saturday Morning (2017–present) and James Martin's American Adventure (2018) for ITV.

Career

Martin trained as a chef at Scarborough Technical College before gaining experience in several respected kitchens in the UK and France. His culinary background helped launch a successful television career in the 1990s, appearing on a variety of cooking programmes and lifestyle shows.

He rose to widespread recognition in 2006 when he became the main host of the BBC cookery programme Saturday Kitchen. Martin presented the popular weekend show for a decade, combining live cooking demonstrations with celebrity guests and wine segments. His approachable style made the programme one of the BBC’s most successful food shows before he stepped down in 2016.

After leaving the BBC, Martin moved to ITV where he launched several new series. In 2017 he presented James Martin's French Adventure, a travel and cooking programme exploring regional cuisine across France. The same year he began hosting James Martin's Saturday Morning, a weekly food and lifestyle show filmed at his Hampshire home.

He later expanded his travel-based cooking format with James Martin's American Adventure in 2018, which followed the chef as he explored culinary traditions across the United States.

Alongside his television work, Martin has written numerous cookbooks and remains a well-known figure in British food broadcasting.
