Simon Sturgis

Simon Sturgisis widely recognised as an expert, an innovator and a lateral thinker in delivering a low carbon, resource efficient, built environment. He has lead UK thinking and produced industry guidance for the RICS, RIBA, UKGBC, BCO and others which has already changed the way projects are designed and built in the UK.

Career

He is an advisor to the UK Parliament, World Wildlife Fund, Google, the Greater London Authority, Schroders Real Estate, British Land, Landsec, M&S, Heathrow Expansion, Grosvenor, L&G, Tishman Speyer, Warwick University, Gatwick Airport, BEIS, DCMS, MHCLG, English Heritage, the UKGBC, the BBP and many others.

Simon was Sustainability Advisor to the RIBA Stirling Prize (2017/18), is a member of the Construction Industry Council (CIC) Climate Change Expert Panel, and a member of the British Council for Offices Sustainability Group. He is an advisor to the EU Commission, Green Construction Board, RICS, Building Research Establishment, and is an AJ Awards judge.

His approach to delivering a low whole life carbon and circular economic future is rooted in practical and economically efficient ideas and strategies, which at the same time challenge conventional thinking.

Simon provides policy and strategic advice to companies and consultancies as well as detailed advice to project teams for reducing construction and lifecycle carbon emissions. This includes master planning, infrastructure, new buildings, retrofit and fitout projects, and through all project stages.

He is founder and Chair of the ‘Whole Life Carbon Network’ (WLCN) working to improve accuracy and consistency in whole life carbon reporting.

Simon is a member of the London Collective, a group of professionals who come together in different flexible groupings depending on Client and Project Type.
