Proton Debuts Lumo 2.0 With Enhanced Privacy and Thinking Mode

The latest iteration of the chatbot promises a 76 percent increase in response speeds compared to its predecessor. Beyond raw performance, the update integrates with Proton’s existing productivity ecosystem, including email and cloud storage. A new persistent memory feature allows the assistant to recall user preferences across multiple sessions, while the Projects widget enables deeper document analysis within a secure environment.

CEO Andy Yen emphasized that the re-engineered architecture proves users can access advanced AI tools without sacrificing personal privacy. Proton maintains its "zero-access" encryption standard, ensuring that data remains encrypted both in transit and at rest. The company explicitly prohibits server-side logging and pledges not to utilize customer interactions for model training, positioning the tool as a distinct alternative to mainstream offerings like Gemini or ChatGPT. Lumo 2.0 is available immediately, with additional resources allocated to users on the company’s paid Plus and Professional tiers.
