HyperTexting wants to turn the open web into your personal social feed

The app functions as a bridge between the sprawling, open web and the modern expectation of a curated social experience. By leveraging RSS—the long-standing, open protocol that powers everything from WordPress blogs to podcasts—HyperTexting allows users to follow news outlets, personal websites, and newsletters without the interference of engagement-hungry algorithms. Hailey designed the interface to mimic the familiar mechanics of X or Facebook, offering a way to consume content chronologically while keeping the user in control of their own data.

Beyond reading, the app encourages active participation by making it simple to publish content directly to one’s own domain. Users can link their existing WordPress blogs or Ghost newsletters, ensuring their posts reach followers without being siloed on a centralized platform. For Hailey, the project is a pushback against the complexity and toxicity of today's social giants. By leaning into the existing infrastructure of the web, he aims to prove that the most effective decentralized network is the one we already have.
