The update brings Gemini Omni to Google Vids, allowing creators to synthesize written prompts with reference images to build complex video content. This integration enables practical adjustments, such as modifying background environments, correcting lighting, or applying visual effects directly to mobile-recorded footage. Crucially, the platform now supports iterative, step-by-step editing, removing the need to regenerate entire sequences when a minor change is required.

By embedding these features into Google Workspace, the company is positioning Vids as a comprehensive tool for corporate training and internal communication. This functionality puts Google in direct competition with established AI video startups like HeyGen and Synthesia. To address security concerns, Google has restricted avatar access to users over 18 in select regions. All generated content is tied to the creator’s verified account and protected by invisible SynthID watermarking to prevent unauthorized deepfakes.
