Recursive Superintelligence bets its $410M on AWS infrastructure

The deal arrives just months after the company emerged from stealth with $650 million in funding. By prioritizing machine-led development over human staff, Recursive aims to automate its research pipeline. Unlike other major labs that often pair compute agreements with equity investments, this partnership focuses strictly on infrastructure. Jason Bennett, VP for startups and venture capital at AWS, noted that the agreement includes co-developing hardware specifically tailored to the company’s unique research needs.

While the industry remains divided on whether self-improving AI represents an imminent breakthrough or a distant research goal, Recursive is moving toward commercialization. Socher expects the first tangible products to debut as early as October. He views this nine-figure commitment as merely the beginning, describing it as one of the smallest compute deals the company expects to sign in the coming years.
