Representative Kevin Mullin has introduced legislation calling for federal safety standards, spurred by reports of robotaxis blocking emergency responders and failing to heed traffic signals. Despite these challenges, Waymo remains committed to freeway travel, viewing the routes as essential to providing competitive commute times and airport access for its riders.
