Waymo Opens Dallas Robotaxi Service to All Riders

The expansion follows a period of restricted access that saw roughly 150,000 riders test the platform since February. While the service is now open to the public, trips to Dallas Love Field Airport remain unavailable as the company continues safety testing in the area. Operations rely on a partnership with Avis Budget Group, which manages the maintenance, charging, and depot logistics for the fleet.

This rollout mirrors the company’s strategy in Phoenix, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, though the path in Texas has faced hurdles. Earlier this year, Waymo temporarily suspended operations across several Texas cities to refine how its software navigates heavy rain and flash flooding. Management warns that future service may still be paused during severe weather events, with real-time status updates available to users through the app.
