Google updates Quick Share with tap-to-transfer functionality

The improved Quick Share feature functions directly through the device’s Share Sheet, allowing users to select media and initiate the transfer by bringing phones into contact. This mechanism eliminates the need to navigate through menus or confirm complex pairing requests, providing a streamlined experience for sharing between compatible handsets.

Support for this feature begins immediately on the Pixel 6 and all subsequent models. Google confirmed that the update will reach the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 shortly, with a broader rollout across the wider Android ecosystem expected to conclude by the end of the year.
