The foldable device, reportedly dubbed the iPhone Ultra, aims to justify its premium cost through a refined design that minimizes the visible screen crease common in competing models. According to insights from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the unit features a 5.5-inch cover display that unfolds into a 7.8-inch interface. To maintain a pocketable profile, Apple has opted for a dual-lens rear camera system, omitting the telephoto lens and replacing Face ID with a side-mounted Touch ID sensor. Despite its tablet-like dimensions, the device will run iOS powered by the same chip expected in the MacBook Neo.
Beyond the foldable hardware, the event will highlight shifts in Apple’s accessory and software ecosystem. References in a recent macOS preview build suggest updates for the HomePod and the development of AirPods equipped with integrated cameras. Researcher Aaron Perris noted that these cameras are intended to provide visual intelligence for Siri rather than traditional photography, capturing low-resolution data to help the assistant interpret the user's surroundings. Additionally, the standard iPhone 18 lineup is expected to see a staggered release, with premium Pro models potentially arriving months before the base version.
