ShinyHunters Claims Breach of FBI Personnel and Applicant Databases

The breach reportedly originated from an Oracle PeopleSoft server before shifting into an Amazon-hosted government cloud. According to 404 Media, the stolen cache includes names, home addresses, and phone numbers of agents and their spouses. While the attackers maintain their actions are not financially motivated, the exposure of such information creates a significant counterintelligence risk, potentially enabling foreign actors to coerce personnel or their families.

Following the unauthorized access, the FBI’s job application portal and associated sites were taken offline for maintenance. This incident marks the second major compromise of federal law enforcement infrastructure this year, following an earlier breach of systems managing real-time wiretaps. The agency has not yet commented on the scope of the intrusion or the validity of the hackers' claims regarding the stolen terabytes of data.
