Putin Praises Musk as Russia Eyes Satellite Ambitions

This burgeoning mutual admiration arrives amid growing anxiety in Kyiv regarding the reliability of Starshield, the military-grade variant of Musk’s network. Ukrainian forces depend heavily on the technology for frontline communications, yet recent disruptions to drone connectivity have sparked international scrutiny. While Musk contends that SpaceX restricted access to prevent the network from being used in offensive strikes, conflicting reports suggest the decision may have originated from the White House.

Musk has maintained that his influence over the conflict is purely technical rather than political, warning that a total blackout of Starlink would trigger the immediate collapse of Ukrainian defensive lines. As the U.S. adjusts its sanctions policy toward Moscow, the intersection of Musk’s private infrastructure and global geopolitics remains a volatile point of friction for Ukrainian military operations.
