Apple Intelligence brings generative reframing to Photos app

The new spatial Reframe tool addresses common photography mishaps, such as poor framing or missed eye contact. By dragging an image, users can shift the perspective as if they had physically repositioned the camera. The software generates synthetic content to fill the gaps created at the edges, ensuring the final composition remains consistent with the original scene.

Complementing this, the Extend tool provides a way to adjust horizons or create breathing room around subjects without sacrificing image quality through cropping. Meanwhile, the Cleanup feature has received a technical overhaul, utilizing more sophisticated generative models to remove unwanted distractions from frames with greater realism. These updates mark a shift toward software-driven composition, where the final look of an image is determined as much by AI post-processing as by the moment the shutter is clicked.
