Google secures $920M monthly compute deal with SpaceX

The partnership mirrors a similar agreement between SpaceX and Anthropic, which committed $1.25 billion monthly to utilize the Colossus 1 data center. While Google currently maintains a vast internal infrastructure, the company cited unexpected growth in its agent platform as the primary driver for this external capacity. The deal includes a 90-day termination clause effective after December 31, 2026, providing Google with flexibility as it navigates a record-breaking capital expenditure year for Alphabet.

SpaceX disclosed the contract just one week before its highly anticipated Nasdaq debut, where the company aims for a $1.75 trillion valuation. Beyond current compute rentals, the two firms are reportedly exploring the development of orbital data centers. Google’s long-standing equity stake in the venture is projected to exceed $100 billion post-IPO, cementing a deep financial synergy between the tech giant and Elon Musk’s aerospace firm.
