Apple Unveils Siri AI as Wall Street Reacts with Skepticism

The upgraded assistant leverages Google’s Gemini technology to function as a full-scale chatbot. Users can now task Siri with purchasing concert tickets, drafting event itineraries, and identifying objects within personal photo libraries. By drawing on private data, the system aims to provide context-aware responses that bridge the gap between traditional voice commands and modern generative AI competitors like Claude and ChatGPT.

Despite these advancements, practical adoption faces significant hurdles. Advanced functionality remains tethered to newer hardware equipped with the latest proprietary chips, and users will encounter strict daily limits when accessing more intensive server-side models. Furthermore, the rollout excludes major markets, with the service unavailable in the European Union or China at launch. Investors signaled their hesitation regarding the strategy, resulting in a 2% decline in Apple’s stock price immediately following the announcement.
