Clicks Technology Previews Its Tactile BlackBerry-Inspired Smartphone

Priced at $499, the Communicator mirrors the iconic BlackBerry aesthetic while integrating modern hardware staples. The device features a 3.5 mm headphone jack, expandable microSD storage up to 2TB, and a physical SIM tray alongside eSIM support. Clicks is positioning the handset as an antidote to smartphone distraction, partnering with Niagara Launcher to provide a streamlined interface that allows users to filter notifications through a customizable "Signal Light" on the device’s side.

Early prototypes seen at CES impressed with their balanced weight and satisfying key response, though engineers continue to refine the pressure sensitivity for faster typing. Beyond the keyboard, the phone includes a dedicated physical switch for airplane mode and swappable back covers. The company expects to begin shipping units in the fourth quarter of this year, offering a niche alternative for those seeking to reclaim their attention from addictive social apps.
