Woman joins lawsuit alleging Grok used to create illicit imagery

The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe 4, alleges that her stepfather manipulated a portrait taken when she was 11 years old to produce more than 7,000 explicit depictions. Authorities discovered the cache during a law enforcement raid, and the stepfather died by suicide two days later. Doe 4 contends that the ease of access to such generative technology is fundamentally transforming daily life into a vehicle for child sexual abuse.

This legal challenge arrives alongside a broader complaint from three Tennessee teenagers who accuse xAI of failing to implement necessary restrictions to prevent the creation of sexualized content featuring real people, including minors. Earlier this year, the X platform faced scrutiny after being inundated with millions of AI-generated explicit images. As the plaintiffs pursue class-action status, the case underscores the mounting pressure on developers to address the potential for abuse within their generative models.
