Bolt and Lucid Motors Target European Robotaxi Market

The proposed vehicles will rely on Nvidia’s Hyperion compute and sensing platform, though the companies have not disclosed which developer will provide the autonomous driving software. This collaboration follows a period of significant turbulence at Lucid, where CEO Silvio Napoli recently oversaw a 20% workforce reduction and postponed the mid-size platform’s launch to late 2027.

Bolt intends to own and manage the fleet, aiming to reach 100,000 autonomous vehicles on its platform by 2035. Despite the ambitious scope, no financial transactions have occurred between the two firms. Lucid, meanwhile, is still working to bring a robotaxi version of its Gravity SUV to market by late 2026 through existing partnerships with Uber and Nuro. For now, the Lucid-Bolt agreement serves as a development framework rather than a commercial contract, with both parties co-designing a vehicle platform specifically tailored for European road regulations and operational demands.
