The M6 chip serves as the centerpiece of this release, offering a 12-core GPU that yields 30% faster graphics and 25% quicker AI workloads than its predecessor, the M5. Apple claims the processor delivers 13 times the LLM prompt-processing speed of the original M1 model. The laptop ships with 16GB of unified memory, upgradeable to 32GB, and supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity. Physical ports include three Thunderbolt 4 slots, HDMI, and an SDXC card reader, while the chassis retains the familiar 12-megapixel camera and MagSafe 3 charging.
Simultaneously, the updated 24-inch iMac enters the market at $1,499. Available in seven colors, the all-in-one desktop leverages the M6 to provide five times the on-device AI performance compared to the M4. It features a 4.5K Retina display and runs on macOS 27. Both the MacBook Pro and the iMac will be available for pre-order on October 28, with retail availability beginning November 6.
