Producer Graham King, who previously steered the success of Bohemian Rhapsody, identified Fuqua early on as the ideal visionary to handle the material. The production’s commitment to authenticity was absolute: Fuqua filmed at the Jackson family compound in Encino and cast Jaafar Jackson, the subject’s nephew, to anchor the narrative.
