Superhuman acquires AI detection specialist GPTZero

Terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed, though the startup previously reported reaching $30 million in annual recurring revenue. Co-founders Edward Tian and CTO Alex Cui built the platform to identify AI-generated content, a mission that caught the attention of investors including Uncork Capital and Footwork. The company secured a $10 million Series A round as recently as June 2024.

Superhuman, which rebranded following its acquisition by Grammarly, already maintained its own native AI detection tools. By absorbing GPTZero, the company aims to consolidate its defensive writing features. Executives stated that the integration of the two technologies provides a more robust solution for users looking to verify content authenticity and refine their prose.
